Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Star Wars fan. I’m also a big fan of tabletop gaming, and so when Fantasy Flight Games announced they were releasing a new wargame based in the Star wars universe, I was excited! However, I was also months away from completing my CCIE certification, and so I used the news and hype train around the upcoming release to help motivate me. I promised myself that once I finished my IE, I’d go buy all sorts of Star Wars Legion gear and paints to practice a new hobby.

I did end up passing my CCIE R/S in March 2018, just before the launch, and on launch weekend I went to VA to visit a friend of mine who was just as excited as I was. Together we made a local game shop owner very happy by gearing up. I also ordered brushes and painting materials, as these miniatures come unpainted and unassembled.

That weekend we used poster putty to cobble together our armies temporarily and played a ton, and when I headed home, gear in tow, I promised the next time I visited, the army would be complete and ready to crush Imperial dogs.

Here’s the current state of that army. I’m arranging the pictures in order so as to show what I hope is progress in skill. I did the Imperials in my core box first because they would be easier to do and I didn’t care as much about how they looked, so I was okay with using them to learn.

I went with a Scarif theme for my Rebel army as I really liked Rogue One. The T-47 Airspeeder was a challenge, but I really like how it turned out. For Luke, I went with Cloud City version and for Vader I focused on the comic book interpretation.

Leia and the Fleet Troopers should be arriving soon and I’ll be painting them next.
